Meaning of Qurban

  1. Types of Animals
    Suitable Animals: The animals that can be sacrificed are sheep, goats, cattle (such as cows and buffaloes) and camels. These animals must be healthy and meet certain age criteria: sheep and goats must be at least one year old, cattle at least two years old, and camels at least five years old.

  2. Time and Place
    Time: Qurbani is performed after the Eid prayer on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and can continue until the 12th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.
    Location: The offering can be done in one's own village or through organizations such as SUNRISE that perform Qurbani in other parts of the world, especially where the need is great. It is only nicer to distribute the meat obtained from this worship to students in training.

  3. Social and Spiritual Contribution
  • Sacrificing an animal quenches the anger of Allah.
  • It brings contentment to Allah.
  • In a country where many sacrifices are made, war will not come up for discussion it is believed.
  • If a person with good intentions and a pure heart, who can afford it, makes a sacrifice, Allah guarantees that the blood that comes from the sacrifice will not come from himself or his children, nor from his property, trade, wealth or possessions.
  • In sacrifice there is great benefit and absolute benefit for children, the poor and the needy.
  • A general forgiveness manifests itself during the Feast of Sacrifice.

Nafila

It is a sacrifice slaughtered with different intentions for the cause of Allah, at times outside the obligatory sacrifices.

It is the sacrifice a person promises when a certain intention becomes a reality. When that intention comes true, the sacrifice that is slaughtered in line with this intention is called "Adaq Qurban . It can be slaughtered at any time of the year.

It is a compulsory sacrifice for the newborn child as gratitude to Allah the Almighty. It can be slaughtered at any time from the day of birth. It is more virtuous to do it on the seventh day. It is a sunnah to make 2 sacrifices for a boy and 1 sacrifice for a girl.

The healing sacrifice is the sacrifice slaughtered for the cause of Allah with the intention of getting rid of material or spiritual diseases and finding healing. It can also be slaughtered as a healing sacrifice with sadaqah (special procedures are used for this purpose).

The sacrifice of gratitude is an offering slaughtered in the name of Allahu ta'ala in thanks for deliverance from accidents, disasters and calamities, for healing from illnesses and for good things achieved.
