Sunrise Foundation supports new construction project for social good in Ede
2024 Sunrise Foundation has lent its support to a special project that will enrich the local community in Ede. The project, led by Stichting Islamitisch Centrum Nederland (SICN), includes the construction of a brand new building on the Hogerhorst in Ede. This new facility is intended to further develop the foundation's activities and better serve the community and, in particular, the youth.
The project
The new location, with a gross area of 1,800 square meters and three floors, will offer a variety of functions, including:
- A prayer room for about 200 people;
- An accommodation for 40 students;
- Sustainability through the use of a heat pump.
The pledge aims to improve the interests of Muslims residing in the Netherlands, with a strong focus on education and community building. In addition, the project will help support the upbringing and educational careers of children and youth, and the stimulation of scientific studies by talented young people. Followers of the SUR Foundation know that we are known for our many actions and aid campaigns in various poor parts of the world. But we also as a foundation are there for social connection, integration stimulating initiatives and of national added value organization support as in this project.
The total construction cost is estimated at 3 million euros. Sunrise Foundation has proudly contributed to acquiring part of the required capital, we owe this in part to our generous donors. The project will continue to be financed by a loan. The remainder the organization is trying to raise through donations.
Duration of the project
Construction is planned for a period of two years. After demolition of the old building, construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2024, with completion in June 2026.
