Stichting Sunrise Supports New Construction Project in Ede to Provide Social and Community Benefits
In 2024, Stichting Sunrise supported a special project in Ede that will enrich the local community. This project, implemented by Stichting Islamitisch Centrum Nederland (SICN), involves the construction of a completely new building in Hogerhorst, Ede. The new facility aims to enhance the association's activities and better serve the community, especially young people.
Project Details
The new location will have a gross area of 1800 m² and will be three stories high.
This facility, which will have various functions, will include:
A prayer area with a capacity of approximately 200 people;
Accommodation for 40 students;
A heat pump system to ensure sustainability.
The building aims to advance the interests of Muslims living in the Netherlands and provides a strong focus on education and community building. The project will also support the education and training processes of children and young people and encourage talented young people to pursue scientific studies.
Followers of Stichting SUR know that our association is recognized worldwide for its various aid campaigns and social responsibility projects. However, Stichting Sunrise also supports projects that strengthen social ties, promote integration, and create value at a national level; this project is a prime example.
The total construction cost is estimated at €3 million. Stichting Sunrise is proud to contribute to securing part of the necessary capital; this contribution has been made possible thanks to our generous donors. The remaining financing will be provided through a loan, while the rest is planned to be covered by donations.
Project Duration
Following the demolition of the old building, construction is planned to begin in the summer of 2024 and be completed in June 2026. The total project duration will be approximately two years.
Collaboration and the Future
This collaboration between Stichting SUR and SICN underscores the power of collective efforts and shared goals. This project is not just an investment in a building; it is also an investment in the future of the community, education, and social cohesion.
