What is Sadaqa (general donation)?
Sadaqa is any form of voluntary charity that a Muslim gives for the sake of Allah.
It is not obligatory like zakat, but it is highly favored by Allah and the Prophet strongly encouraged it.
You can give sadaqa at any time, in any amount - in money, food, clothing, time or even a smile.
Why a sadaqa ?
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"Protect yourself from the Fire, even if it is with half a date as sadaqa."
(Bukhari & Muslim)
This shows that no sadaqa is too small in the eyes of Allah.
